This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Cipheus mobile application ("App") and related services including our website (cipheus.com).
We collect information that you provide directly to us and information generated through your use of our services:
Account Information: When you create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider. You may also set up a username, display name, and profile picture.
Messages: Messages are end-to-end encrypted before being sent. Our servers only store the encrypted ciphertext to enable message delivery and history retrieval. We cannot read the content of your messages.
Social Data: Your friend list, friend requests, and blocked user list are stored to manage your social connections.
Language Packs: Information about language packs you use or create, including symbol selections.
Device Information: We collect your device push notification token (APNs) to deliver notifications. We do not collect device identifiers for advertising or tracking purposes.
Reports: If you report another user, we store the report details (reason, optional context) to review and enforce community guidelines.
Subscription Information: If you subscribe to Cipheus+, we store your subscription status, plan type, and expiration date to manage your access to premium features. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple's App Store — we never receive or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing information.

Cipheus protects your messages with end-to-end encryption (E2EE) and a cipher visual transformation layer. Here is how it works:
Cipheus supports Face ID and Touch ID for protecting your privacy settings and confirming sensitive actions (such as account deletion). Biometric data is processed entirely by Apple's biometric framework on your device. We never access, collect, store, or transmit your biometric data.

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication tokens, and access controls. We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile information, messages, friendships, custom language packs, and device tokens. Anonymous messages posted to the Secret Wall on our website are retained separately and are not linked to any user account.
Cipheus allows you to export your chat history as a locally encrypted file (.cipheus). This feature operates entirely on your device:

You can delete your account at any time through Settings in the App. Account deletion requires biometric authentication (if available on your device) for security. When you delete your account:
Cipheus is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
